Drama as a compulsory course in the curriculum of schools

Since 2020, Miao Bin has made drama a compulsory course in the primary school in Chengdu, which is pioneering in China. In 2022, drama was listed as a discipline in the Arts Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education by Ministry of China. There are many difficulties for drama to be a compulsory course in schools, especially lacking of qualified drama teachers. So Miao Bin has been teaching Drama in Education in Chengdu College of Arts and Sciences for primary education students. He has also given workshops for teachers who are interested in drama education. He founded Drama Research Center in Tianfu No.7 High School in Chengdu and has organized drama education forums and seminars. In his team in the school, there are five drama teachers who work full-time in the school, which is the only one now in China. He has been elected to be the officer of Executive Committee and Director of Projects of IDEA (International Drama/Theatre and Education Association). Currently he is teaching drama in primary section, middle section and high section of Tianfu No.7 High School.
