Icarus' Wings 伊卡洛斯之翼
This theatrical performance was co-created by Miao Bin and his students based on the story about Daedalus and Icarus in Greek mythology. The children were trying to think about why Icarus didn't listen to his father but flew to the sun. They have their own answers and understandings. They also reflect their own experiences in life to the story. Besides the lines, the children tried to express through their bodies. This play was a result of the drama class of Tianfu No.7 High School Primary Section.
本剧取材于古希腊神话,建筑师代达罗斯在为雅典王子忒修斯出主意,让王子成功进入迷宫杀死牛头怪米诺陶之后,失去了米诺斯国王的信任,于是决定制造翅膀带儿子伊卡洛斯飞离克里特岛。伊卡洛斯跟随父亲代达罗斯舞动翅膀飞在海上,随着越飞越高,结果翅膀解体,伊卡洛斯坠落海中。作品将聚焦于我们是否应该听话,又如何去承受不听话的后果。儿童对伊卡洛斯为什么会越飞越高向太阳飞去有各种不同的解读,那如果还有一次重来的机会,伊卡洛斯还会向高空飞去吗?这将留给自己去回答。伊卡洛斯的经历其实如一场梦境,儿童在这个梦境里飞翔。
Yu the Great Ruling the Water大禹治水
Based on a Chinese mythology story, this play focuses on the relationship between parents and children from the perspective of children. Yu was away from home for 13 years to flight against the flood, and had passed through his home three times without entering it. The child Qi had been living only with his mother since he was born. The constant lack of his father's company led to a lot of isolation and ridicule among his peers, and he slowly became withdrawn and cold. Can the son understand his father's dilemma?
《大禹治水》以大禹治水的故事为背景,以孩子启的视角聚焦当今的亲子陪伴尤其是父子之间的关系。大禹离家13年在外治水,曾三过家门而不入。孩子启从出生开始就一直只跟着母亲生活,常年缺少父亲陪伴,遭到了不少同伴之间的孤立和嘲笑,慢慢变得孤僻冷漠。儿子是否能理解父亲的两难困境?
The Mayfly 蜉蝣
This is a puppet theatre that explores the meaning of life and the struggle against fate, created by teachers and children. If even human beings have only one day to live, how do we face the storm and write our own meaning in our limited life time? Combining the symbolism of the mayfly with the anxieties of contemporary human life, this play explores the courage and reflection of
”flying against the wind”. Through the dialogue between humans and mayflies, the play calls on the audience to rethink fate and freedom, life and meaning.
《蜉蝣》是一部探讨生命意义与命运抗争的人偶剧,由老师与孩子们共同创作。如果人类的生命也只有一天,我们该如何面对风雨,如何在有限的时间中书写自己的意义?这一创作结合了蜉蝣的象征性与当代人类的生命焦虑,探讨了“逆风而行”的勇气与思考。通过人与蜉蝣的对话,剧目呼吁观众重新思考命运与自由、生命与意义。
The Spark 火种
Based on Greek mythology, this play follows the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus. After devising a plan for Prince Theseus of Athens to successfully navigate the labyrinth and slay the Minotaur, Daedalus lost the trust of King Minos. Consequently, he decided to craft wings to fly his son, Icarus, away from the island of Crete. Icarus followed his father, flapping his wings over the sea. However, as he flew higher and higher, the wings disintegrate, and Icarus plummeted into the sea. This play focuses on the dilemma of obedience: how do we bear the consequences of disobedience? Children have many different interpretations of why Icarus flew toward the sun. If given a second chance, would Icarus still soar toward the heights? That answer is left for the audience to find. The journey of Icarus unfolds like a dreamscape, within which the children take flight.
这部戏剧取材于希腊神话,讲述了建筑师代达罗斯与其子伊卡洛斯的故事。代达罗斯为雅典王子忒修斯设计了成功穿越迷宫并杀死牛头怪的计划后,却失去了米诺斯国王的信任。于是他决定为儿子伊卡洛斯打造翅膀,助其飞离克里特岛。伊卡洛斯追随父亲,在海面上振翅翱翔。然而当他飞得越来越高时,翅膀逐渐崩解,最终坠入大海。本剧聚焦于服从的困境:我们该如何承受违抗的后果?孩子们对伊卡洛斯为何飞向太阳有着千百种诠释。若重获机会,伊卡洛斯是否仍会翱翔天际?答案留待观众自行探寻。伊卡洛斯的旅程如梦境般徐徐展开,孩子们在其中展翅翱翔。
Jingwei Filling Up the Sea精卫填海
The play is based on the story of Jingwei, which tells of a female child who, because her father, Emperor Yan Di Shennong, had to gather medicine in the mountains and could not accompany her, sailed alone to the East China Sea to watch the sunrise but sank to the bottom of the sea and transformed into a bird of Jingwei, vowing to fill up the East China Sea. At the same time, it incorporates the element that children lack companionship in modern life due to the busyness of their parents' work and expresses their thoughts and aspirations in parent-child relationships. The questions raised by the children based on their own experiences and the thoughts related to themselves are the basis for the creation of the play, and the children are also the creators of this play.
本剧以精卫填海的故事为原型,讲述女娃因父亲炎帝神农要山上采药无法陪伴,于是独自驾舟去东海看日出,却身沉海底,化为精卫鸟,誓言填平东海,同时融入儿童在现代生活中因父母工作忙碌而缺失陪伴的元素,表达出儿童在亲子关系中的思考和诉求。儿童根据自身经历提出的问题和联系自身进行的思考,是创作剧本的基础,而儿童也是本剧的创编者。

A Dream in Nanke 南柯一梦
A Dream in Nanke is adapted from the Tang Dynasty legend The Tale of the Governor of Nanke. Through the dreamlike existence of its protagonist, Chunyu Fen, it reflects on the pursuit of power, love, success, failure, and self-worth. The entire production unfolds along the boundary between "dream" and "reality," incorporating a "dream within a dream" structure. It not only narrates an individual's illusory experience but also metaphorically explores modern society's confusion and pursuit of success, identity, and life's meaning. Actors fluidly transition between roles and states, complemented by music, lighting, and physical movement, collectively constructing a poetic and philosophical theatrical dreamscape. Throughout the viewing experience, the audience themselves traverse the realms of reality and illusion, embarking upon their own personal journey through the dream of Nanke.
《南柯一梦》改编自唐代传奇《南柯太守传》,通过主人公淳于棼的梦境人生,折射出对权力、爱情、成败与自我价值的追问。全剧围绕“梦”与“现实”的边界展开,融入“梦中梦”的结构,不仅讲述个体的幻象体验,也隐喻现代社会中人们对成功、身份与人生意义的困惑与追寻。演员在角色与状态之间流动转换,配合音乐、灯光与形体动作,共同构建一场充满诗意与哲思的剧场梦境。观众在观看的过程中,也仿佛在跨越现实与幻象,完成一场属于自己的“南柯之旅”。
Adapted from French writer Maupassant's novel, the play tells the story of a woman who was married to a petty clerk and lives in poverty, fantasizing about a life of wealth every day. After a night of glitz and glamour, she was horrified to discover that the necklace was missing, and she and her husband scraped together the money to buy an identical necklace to return it to her friend, spending ten years living a life of misery to earn money to pay off the debt. However, a letter from her friend told her the truth. What is the price of vanity? Is the decade-long self-redemption worth it? How should she face the truth when it comes?
本剧改编自法国作家莫泊桑的同名小说《项链》,讲述了一个嫁给了小职员过着清贫生活的女人,每天在幻想着富有的生活。一夜繁华之后,她惊恐地发现项链丢失,她和丈夫四处凑钱买了一串样子相同的项链还给朋友,为此花了十年的时光过尽苦日子,挣钱偿还债务。然而,朋友的一封来信,让她得知了真相。爱慕虚荣会付出什么代价?长达十年的自我救赎是否值得?当真相来临该如何面对?
Farewell My Concubine 霸王别姬
For the first time in Greece, the multi-award winning Chinese play "Farewell My Concubine" in a Greek-Chinese production.
On February 7, 2020, on the stage of the Municipal Musical Theater "Olympia - Maria Kallas" it was presented for the first time in Greece. in a co-production of the Drama School of the Piraeus Association and the Department of Theater Studies of the University of Peloponnese, the Chinese play "Goodbye My Concubine" in a Greek-Chinese production.
"Farewell My Concubine" - one of the most classic plays in the Peking opera repertoire - is based on historical events that took place in ancient China from 206 BC. to 202 BC, during the brutal Qin Dynasty, and recounts the conflict between the kings from the two most powerful vassal kingdoms of the time, those of Chu and Han. The story of King Xiang Yu of Chu and King Liu Bang of Han has been known throughout China for centuries..
“Farewell My Concubine” was first performed for public in 1918 by Yang Xiaolou and Shang Xiaoyun, and then since 1922, it became the most well-known play of Mei Lanfang, who was the most famous artist of Peking Opera. For generations this tragic story has been staged for countless times in various genres, and also been filmed which received many awards and remains the only Chinese language film having won Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival.
This performance is the second Greek and Chinese theatre co-production based on Chinese theatre play, after “Zhao the Orphan” which was co-produced by National Theatre of Greece and National Theatre of China in 2018. In that production, Yiannis Panagopoulos was associate director of the National Theater of Greece and worked together with the director of the play and former director of the National Theater of China, Wang Xiaoying.
While there are more and more theatre collaborations between China and Greece, this project aims to explore the better way for the intercultural theatre co-production, and to overcome the difficulties on the culture understanding for the theatre actors when they perform a foreign play, so as to build up a sample for the future productions. This performance is fusion of the elements of Chinese and Greek theatre and culture.
On the occasion of Chinese New Year, this performance was a celebration for the coming new year, and also an outstanding part of the culture exchange between the two ancient civilizations.
